Mike goes back to Vietnam to find Nick because before they both left for the war they promised each other to never leave one another behind. Mike stayed true to this promise when he came back to the U.S. and Nick was still in Vietnam. When Mike came home his life wasn"t the same. He couldn"t go back to work without Nick. He tried to go hunting but he didn"t get anything, he was very close to a deer he would normally not miss, but earlier in the movie he told Nick how Nick was the only one he could go hunting with, not any of the other guys. Another reason I think Mike went back to Vietnam is because, he liked Linda. Nick proposed to Linda during Steve"s wedding and Mike isn"t one to try to sleep with his best friend"s fiancé. Therefore, he went back to Vietnam because Linda hadn"t heard from Nick and I think Mike would only feel OK going after Linda if they knew that Nick was either dead or never coming home. One of the last scenes Mike is forced to play Russian Roulette against Nick, where he tries to convince Nick not to play but Nick goes on anyway and ends up killing himself.

Level 1 I got the StudioCanal release that came out last year in the UK but this is awesome to see Shout release its first 4K (and what a great film to start). I was surprised to see an MSRP of $35 which seems remarkably low for a 4K release. Hopefully this sells well for them and encourages other boutique labels to enter that market. level 2 I wonder if this is the same as the StudioCanal release level 2 How is $35 remarkably low? Nearly every 4k movie MSRP is either that or below and very few sell for that at stores. level 1 Bring on 4K UHD for all boutique labels! level 2 I"d bet it"s identical to the existing Studio Canal 4K. level 1 Happy I held off. This is the last Cazale movie I need to pick up. level 1 How was the Studiocanal transfer? level 2 I read on the blu ray forum that it was a good transfer and very filmic. I"ve been tempted to get it since the og blu ray really shows its age now. God this movie is so rough, but I do love the first act a lot. level 1 Nice can’t wait to fucking cry in 4K level 1 Ugh, literally just bought that movie lol. level 2 Thank you for your sacrifice. level 2 If you can afford the $35 price tag it shouldn’t be an issue. level 1 Pre-ordered! First Shout order for me despite owning 600+ discs, how did that happen?!? Thanks OP for posting, I want to support them for 4k. level 1 I"ve owned this movie on three different formats... and still haven"t seen it. This time though! Glad Shout is jumping in on 4K. level 1 I loved The Deer Hunter. First time I saw it, I was bored by it but it was always playing on HBO or Cinemax I watched it again and I found it fantastic. I"ve seen it more than 10 times and I always see something new in it. level 1 how long do you think the limited poster bundle will last? level 1 So is everything previously released by Shout, Arrow, etc, going to be getting new 4K releases too? Am I screwed? Should I throw out my Donnie Darko Arrow Blu-ray set??? level 2 Did you buy VHS... then DVD... then Blu Ray... what did you expect?

I responded to Mike, I responded to his passion and how serious he was about the film and that is the same reason I responded to you and your book. I just knew that you were going to do such a great job, and that you care so much and I am very impressed with that. The Deer Hunter is now rightly revered as classic, a film of enduring power, showcasing the genius of Michael Cimino and the mesmerising presence of Robert De Niro, Meryl Streep, John Cazale, Chris Walken and John Savage. Free Stream Lovac na jolene. Two different cultures and ethnicities. Two different filming styles. Godfather very cinematic while Deer Hunter feels like a home movie. The class of the Godfather and the drunken antics in the Deer Hunter are polar opposites. The VFW Hall and the small glasses of beer are spot on. The domestic violence in mill towns being partially accepted depicts the times. But, in The Godfather it"s hard to beat the Luca Brasi scene. Also, the old man singing always brings a smile to my face. That is an Italian wedding. I"m sure this is not the popular opinion but I think The Deer Hunter is the better wedding scene. Ot feels real.
